What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR Therapy (also know as Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) is a specialized model that I find to be ideal when learning to heal from and process past traumas.

I identify Trauma as anything that takes you away from your typical "baseline" of who you are. Your "baseline" is who you are on a daily basis when you are not experiencing emotional, physical or any other form of distress. Trauma responses can occur from the loss of a pet or family member or be the result of natural disasters, relationship conflict or even workplace stress. EMDR is the process of using cognitive reframing along with tapping motions to reconnect the mind to the body.

This model of therapy can be an appropriate fit for you if you have a general understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and are able to sit in uncomfortable emotions with managable disassociation. If you feel like you need more support before engaging in this model, no worries, feel free to schedule to engage in CBT therapy before seeing if this works for you!
